Black History Month - Naomi Campbell

19.10.12

It's Black History Month and I have decided to do a  post of people who inspire me.
This time it is the AMAZING

Naomi Campbell

From when I was a little girl I thought that she defined what beauty was.

Name: Naomi Campbell
Date of Birth: 22 May 1970
Place of Birth: Streatham, London, UK
Height: 5' 9.5

Naomi is of Jamaican descent as well as Chinese Jamaican through her paternal grandma.
At the age of 7 Naomi appeared in Bob Marley's music video "Is this love"
In 1986 Naomi was scouted by Beth Boldt, head of the Synchro Model agency and since then she has walked the runway for designers such as Versace, Zac Posen, Christian Dior and others. Her famous fall on the runway was for Vivenne Westwood.

Young Naomi

She was also the first black model to appear on the front cover of French Vogue thanks to her good friend Yves Saint Laurent threatening to pull out from an advertisement if they didn't allow black models on their covers.

She has featured in music videos such as Michael Jacksons "In the closet" and Jay Z's video for "Change Clothes"
Naomi also dabbled in acting and starred in Spike Lee's film "Girl 6".
She also is involved with charities such as the "Nelson Mandela Children's Fund" and "Breakthrough Breast Cancer".
She also had a short musical career in which she made an album and released the UK number 40 song "Love and Tears" which I remember seeing her perform it on Top of the Pops!

HOT, HOT, HOT!!

Those Legs!!

Overall she opened doors for a lot of the models out there now and there is only ONE Naomi Campbell and all the rest are imitations!
